Hi LYSON, thank you for interviewing with me. To start, could you please introduce yourself to our readers who might not be familiar with you yet?
Hello. My name is LYSON, and I'm greeting you with my first mini-album, 'ORBIT.' It's nice to meet you all.
Congratulations on the release of your first mini album, 'ORBIT!’ If you had to describe the album in three words, what would they be?
The mood of the whole album can be summarized in one sentence: "If we meet for a moment, will you recognize me?"
The three words are summer night, drive, and refreshing. I chose the three words because the clear guitar sound reminded me of a summer night drive.
What's the significance of the title 'ORBIT'? How does it relate to the songs or themes in the album?
The lyrics, "If we ever meet, will you recognize me," is an emotional song that maximizes the feeling of longing for each other on opposite sides of the orbit that will never meet.
Can you walk us through the tracklist of 'ORBIT'? What can listeners expect from each song?
The first track is called 'Stars in the Wave,’' and you can enjoy it more if you listen to it while thinking about the sea at night in summer. The second track is called “Orbit,” which is the title track, and it has a refreshing atmosphere and attractive guitar sound, but you can find wistfulness in the lyrics. The third song is called "Afterimages of Lights," which has an addictive chorus and repetitive lyrics that are easy to sing along with. For the fourth song, we prepared a ballad for the first time, unlike the songs we've released so far, and it has sad emotions in it, so I think it would be good to listen to it while focusing on the lyrics.
Which part of the song "Orbit" was the most challenging to create, and why?
During the part that says “Counting my memories,” I remember singing the chorus more intensely than the other songs because it was difficult to keep the emotions alive during the recording process.
Is there a particular song on 'ORBIT' that you feel represents you best as an artist?
I think I'm solidifying my own vocal style, and when I released this album, I was proud and happy to hear people around me say, "You have your own color, and it's charming." But I want to practice and work harder to become a better singer.
We'd love to hear about the music video for your title track. What was the concept behind it, and do you have any memorable moments from filming?
The music video is about missing each other on opposite sides of the orbit where you can never meet. I think the moment of the fireworks at the ocean is the most memorable because it adds to the atmosphere of the album.
Looking back on the process of creating 'ORBIT,' what's the biggest lesson you've learned as an artist?
I thought that I could sing happily because many people worked hard to help release my album. I promised myself to put more effort into my music and also feel grateful.
How do you balance the roles of being both a singer and a songwriter?
When I work on a song, I think about what I can express well and try to show my strengths as much as possible.
What themes or messages do you hope to convey through your music?
Listening to music or watching movies often empowers and comforts me, and I hope my music will bring happiness and comfort to many people.
What's the story behind your stage name, LYSON?
I came up with 'Listen' because I want a lot of people to listen to my music, and I wanted to give it a softer feel, so I came up with 'LYSON'.
Are there any genres or styles of music you'd like to explore in the future?
I would like to release a jazz album in time for the Christmas season to make it a warm holiday season if I get the chance.
How do you think your sound has evolved since your debut single, "Marigold?"
I think I've made a lot of music that's a little more relaxing and easy to listen to and songs that a lot of people can relate to.
What goals do you have for your music career in the next few years?
My goal is to create songs that are like theme songs for each season: spring, summer, fall, and winter. I hope people can think of “LYSON” when they hear the music.
Lastly, please share with your fans who have been supporting you since your debut.
As promised, I'll keep singing until I die, so please keep supporting me and give me lots of love. That's all for now. Thank you.
